A reader has sent me a link to an article regarding Pope Pius XII and his response to the Holocaust. The article is posted by A Catholic Response, Inc. The article has the Nihil Obstat of Reverend John T. Folda, S.T.L., and the Imprimatur of the Most Reverend Fabian W. Bruskewitz, D.D, S.T.D.

Fair and Balanced?
May 27, 2009 by Eugene Michael
As many of you know, two deacons from the Diocese of Rochester have been collaborating with the Holocaust Study Group on a Holocaust presentation. The name of this 14 week presentation is The 2,000 Year Road to the Holocaust. The Director of this group is listed as Morris Wortman. Morris Wortman is also known as an abortionist and a public defender of a woman’s “right to choose”. The Diocese of Rochester is listed on the group’s website as an official supporter of this program.

Judie Brown Chimes In
May 21, 2009 by Eugene Michael
As you may recall, several weeks ago I ran a piece criticizing a collaboration between two of our diocesan deacons and abortionist Morris Wortman. Judie Brown, President of the American Life League, has written a piece on ALL’s website about this collaboration. Follow this link to read her article.

Pity the Children
May 21, 2009 by Eugene Michael
From a CNN interview with Jesuit priest, Father Frank Martin:I think first of all, if anyone(Obama) deserves a degree in law, it’s this constitutional law scholar. I think that needs to be kept in mind. But also, I think the pro-life world is a lot broader than simply abortion. I don’t think you can just sweep the death penalty, torture — things like that under the carpet. The pro-life world is really what Cardinal Bernardin called ‘a consistent ethic of life.’ I think, unfortunately, for a lot of people in the pro-life movement, life begins at conception, but seems to end there. I mean, it just cannot be about simply abortion, and I really lament the fact that — that some of the bishops have turned the Gospel of Jesus Christ into simply abortion. And so, I think we need to look at a broader perspective here.

The End of the Present World
May 20, 2009 by Eugene Michael
The book, The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of the Future Life was a favorite of St. Therese of Lisieux. Of this book, she said that reading it was one of the greatest graces of her life. I am currently about halfway through it and have found it to be fascinating.Follow this link for more information.

Another Curious Aberration
May 19, 2009 by Eugene Michael
Lee Strong found an interesting little tidbit while scrutinizing a local homosexual newspaper, The Empty Closet:Speaking of women religious, I also spotted the name of Sister Kay Heverin, SSJ, of St. Mary’s Church in Rochester. Sister Kay was listed back on May 10 as being the “lay presider/preacher” at the Dignity-Integrity Roman Catholic Sunday Celebration In the Absence of a Priest.
A Catholic woman religious serving as Presider and Preacher at a church service when there are many valid Catholic services available?
And to do so for Dignity, a group that promotes things counter to the Church’s teachings about homosexuality and which is not an accepted Catholic group?
Good questions, Lee. I suppose that’s why St. Mary’s is not exactly a destination of choice for orthodox Catholics.

Watch What I Say, not What I Do
May 18, 2009 by Eugene Michael
Excerpt from Obama’s Notre Dame speech yesterday:How does each of us remain firm in our principles, and fight for what we consider right, without, as Father John said, demonizing those with just as strongly held convictions on the other side?

“You’ve Got it All Backward”
May 16, 2009 by Eugene Michael
The following is from NewsMax:“Notre Dame is arresting a priest,” the Rev. Norman Weslin, founder of the Lambs of Christ abortion protest group, said as Notre Dame security personnel put plastic restraints on his wrists Friday. “Why are you arresting a priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby? You’ve got it all backward.”
Maybe Father Jenkins has been reading those terrorist alerts from the Department of Homeland Security.
Father Weslin’s sickening arrest has been captured on this video. This arrest has to be the low point in the history of this one-time Catholic university.

A Champion of Human Rights?
May 16, 2009 by Eugene Michael
Following is the text of the honorary degree to be conferred on President Obama at Notre Dame on Sunday:Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, on the 44th president of the United States, whose historic election opened a new era of hope in a country long divided by its history of slavery and racism. A community organizer who honed his advocacy for the poor, the marginalized and the worker in the streets of Chicago, he now organizes a larger community, bringing to the world stage a renewed American dedication to diplomacy and dialogue with all nations and religions committed to human rights and the global common good. Through his willingness to engage with those who disagree with him and encourage people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate, he is inspiring this nation to heal its divisions of religion, culture, race and politics in the audacious hope for a brighter tomorrow.
On Barack H. Obama, Washington, District of Columbia”
How does advocating baby-killing fit in with helping the marginalized and advancing human rights?
Obviously, it doesn’t, which makes this award all the more ludicrous.

Silent Genocide
May 16, 2009 by Eugene Michael
The following is from an article by Joseph Pecar at the Renew America website:Since 1973, twice as many Black Americans have died from abortion than from AIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined. Blacks make up only 12% of the population but 34% of all abortions are Black babies. In the last 36 years over 17 million African American babies have died by abortion alone, which is one third of America’s current Black population. Nearly half of all African-American pregnancies end in abortion.
These statistics are rarely, if ever, reported on by our news media. Does that make them complicit in the ongoing genocide against black babies? Absolutely.

Confession Lines Should be Forming
May 14, 2009 by Eugene Michael
From a recent interview with Archbishop Burke:LOPEZ: You seemed to make very clear that Catholic voters collaborated with evil when they voted for Obama. If you’re Catholic and did, do you have to confess this now that Mexico City, embryo-destructive funding, among other things, have happened?
ARCHBISHOP BURKE: If a Catholic knowingly and deliberately votes for a person who is in favor of the most grievous violations of the natural moral law, then he has formally cooperated in a grave evil and must confess his serious sin. Since President Obama clearly announced, during the election campaign, his anti-life and anti-family agenda, a Catholic who knew his agenda regarding, for example, procured abortion, embryonic-stem-cell research, and same-sex marriage, could not have voted for him with a clear conscience.
If more of our bishops and priests instructed like Archbishop Burke, we wouldn’t have the anti-life Obama as president right now. We’d also have some very long confessional lines for the 54% of Catholics who turned their backs on the unborn in the last election.

Morelle Says Yes to Same-Sex Marriage
May 13, 2009 by Eugene Michael
For those who are keeping track, State Assemblyman Joe Morelle once again voted in favor of the same-sex marriage act that passed the NYS Assembly yesterday. Morelle is a self-identified Roman Catholic. He has never been publicly censured by the diocese for his support of anti-Catholic initiatives including his unequivocal support for abortion legislation.

Kodak Moment at Chrism Mass
May 10, 2009 by Eugene Michael
As you may recall, the Cathedral featured a liturgical dancer at its Chrism Mass several weeks ago. The dancer is a board member of the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus and a public advocate for the legalization of same-sex marriage in New York State. I have come across a photo of his performance at the Cathedral. Follow this link for more.

The following is from Mike at the DOR Catholic website:There must be something in the water in the Diocese of Little Rock.
