  1. Good Thing Morelle Lives In The DOR

“The Catholic Church clearly teaches that abortion is a grave offense against the will of God,” said Egan. “Throughout my years as Archbishop of New York, I have repeated this teaching in sermons, articles, addresses, and interviews without hesitation or compromise of any kind.”

He continued, “Thus it was that I had an understanding with Mr. Rudolph Giuliani, when I became Archbishop of New York and he was serving as Mayor of New York, that he was not to receive the Eucharist because of his well-known support of abortion.”

“I deeply regret that Mr. Giuliani received the Eucharist during the Papal visit here in New York,” said Egan, “and I will be seeking a meeting with him to insist that he abide by our understanding.” From Lifesite News, 4/28/08.

  2. Even The Media Is Catching On

“Catholic schools in the Diocese of Rochester had the sixth-highest loss of students in the nation over the past decade.”

“We certainly are not happy with that status, but we are turning that around,” said Sister Janice Morgan, interim Catholic schools superintendent for the Rochester diocese.

“If the diocese approached schools at risk last year and asked for consultation, they may have seen any number of very creative and valid proposals,” said Mike McDougall, who has a son at Good Shepherd School in Henrietta, one of the schools that will be closed.

“Although the diocese has been spending about $100,000 a year on marketing, McDougall, who works in public relations, said he approached the diocese about a year ago and offered to help increase enrollment, but diocesan officials never took him up on his offer.”

The above excerpts are from this morning’s D&C in an article titled “Catholic Schools’ Decline Here Among the Worst in U.S.

It all sounds so familiar-the DOR once again ranked among the worst in the nation, a layperson who offered to help but was ignored, and a DOR spokesperson trying to convince us that things are turning around. It’s all beginning to sound like a badly broken record. At least the media is beginning to see through the charade.

  3. Thank You Daniel Geen

Thank you Daniel Geen for your excellent editorial in the D&C, “Only Men Should be Catholic Priests”. Once again a lay person comes to the defense our our embattled Catholic Church.

  4. Thank You Dorothy Hayes

Thank you Dorothy Hayes for coming to the defense of the unborn in yesterday’s D&C(scroll down for her letter).

  5. Stop Your Whining

“There’s no one up there that looks like me,” Redig said. “Many times in Mass I’ve shed tears because women have not been given a voice. We can’t be ordained just because we came in the wrong wrapper.” Kathy Redig, soon to be excommunicated from the Catholic church. This story is worth reading for the insight it provides into the disordered theology of those in the priestess movement.

  6. Just Whom Is She Praying To?

“Clinton said she has felt the gift of God in her life and said she makes decisions on tough moral issues such as abortion and the treatment of alleged terrorists after prayer, contemplation and study.” From AP News, 4/14/08.

  7. Is Mccain Truly Pro-life?

“Senator John McCain has consistently taken a strong pro-life position against abortion, has a strong pro-life voting record against abortion and opposes Roe v. Wade,” the group said. From NRTL’s recent statement endorsing John McCain for president.

  8. The Dominican Sisters Of Mary

The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist is a teaching order of nuns that is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their mission includes the establishment and support of Catholic schools and the promotion of a culture of life.

Please consider a donation to this worthy organization of religious women who are doing their part to restore the Church in our country. Your support would be especially appropriate given the dire state of Catholic education in the DOR.

  9. Just Ask The Children

Arinze said that he is regularly asked if a person who votes for abortion can receive Holy Communion. He replies, ‘Do you really need a cardinal from the Vatican to answer that?’

‘Get the children for first Communion and say to them, Somebody votes for the killing of unborn babies, and says, I voted for that, I will vote for that every time. And these babies are killed not one or two, but in millions, and that person says, I’m a practising Catholic, should that person receive Communion next Sunday? The children will answer that at the drop of a hat. You don’t need a cardinal to answer that.’ “

  10. Third Graders Conspire To Murder

“It’s the type of news you don’t expect to hear coming out of an elementary school. Police say the students were hatching a plan to harm their teacher Friday morning. They even brought items from home to carry out the plan.

‘They had a broken steak knife, a crystal paper weight, toy handcuffs, several items and tape and stuff,’ says Lt. Caswell. Nine third grade students suspended at Center Elementary in Waycross for an alleged plot to attack their teacher.”

Maybe these nine year olds just need a little more training in self esteem. Or maybe the parents should shut down the television and computer and actually spend some time teaching their children right from wrong.

The moral decline of this nation is rooted in its rejection of God. We have become a secular society that kills millions of innocent unborn babies every year. The moral rot has now spread to nine year olds who apparently think it is perfectly normal to murder their third grade teacher. Wake up America!

  11. Spirit Alive Features Dissident Nun

The DOR’s Spirit Alive website is recommending three books by the notorious dissident nun, Sister Joan Chittister. Thanks to Rich Leonardi for catching this.

  12. Incoherence From the Left

If anyone would care to read a totally incoherent defense of abortion rights, then this morning’s D&C is the place to go. Willa Powell, a candidate for state Senate, writes a long rambling piece about killing babies. If Powell turns out to be Joe Robach’s opponent then he has nothing to worry about.
