Get With the Times

Yesterday’s D&C featured yet another piece on the “injustice” of discrimination against same-sex “marriage”. The author can’t understand why some people seem uncomfortable when she refers to her partner as her “wife”. They took sacred vows, etc., etc.

In reality this writer is hopelessly behind the times. Marriage is a dying institution in the West. Many(most?) young people today do not bother with the formality of marriage. Currently about 10 million unmarried people in America live together with partners of the opposite sex. This is a tenfold increase since 1960.

Isn’t it time for same-sex couples to stop trying to be so countercultural? Get with the times. Marriage is for dinosaurs!(Although I do have a particular fondness for dinosaurs).
